All together, the project consists of 55 neighborhoods and consists of nearly 2500 images. It captures everything from neighborhood parks, schools, playgrounds, shopping centers, and home styles. It is designed to be a comprehensive catalog of some of Phoenix’s oldest and newest neighborhoods. You can visit each neighborhood virtually from anywhere in the world to get a sense of that neighborhood when you are considering buying a home.

There are over 2.5 million lights on display at the zoo this year. There are some pretty exciting light displays. The dancing tree light show is always an exciting and popular feature. In the image to the right, you can see the tree lights and an admiring young boy.

You might see some animals as it is a zoo. The night I went, the zoo had put out hay at the fence line so that zebras would come close to photograph. The zoo has been hyping the new Land of the Dragons exhibit, but the Komodo dragons are reptiles, therefore cold blooded, and sleep at night. The exhibit is pretty cool because only glass separates you from the Komodo dragons, including their den, so you can still see them as they sleep.If you go early enough in the night you might see the African otters playing after dusk. There was an elephant out, but nowhere near the fence line. There were a few javelina out and about, but once again they were in the back of the enclosure. I can’t say that the camel ride counts though as seeing animals at the zoo.

I’ve driven by these cool fabric structures many times and finally decided to stop last week. It has been awhile since I have posted and felt I needed to get moving again. This giant shade over the intersection of the complex’s roads is an interesting piece of architecture. Only the two buildings to the East are completed which is why part of the structure appears so dominantly towards the intersection of Scottsdale Rd. and McDowell Rd. I fear how hidden these beautiful lines will become upon completion of the remaining buildings, obscuring it from view.

Skysong is “a mixed-use project that will consist of of 1.2 million square feet of office, research, retail and hotel/Conference center space at full build-out. The completed project will be a vigorous, 21st century center for innovation, commercialization, entrepreneurship and business development.” (Skysong website).

Skysong is a tensile fabric structure. Fabric architecture has become one of the most modern forms of architecture being utilized in public art, canopies, and buildings such as: Burj Al Arab (7 Star hotel in Dubai) and the Denver International Airport to name but a few.

Today, the company I work for was doing some dry ice blasting. Pretty cool stuff that uses frozen carbon dioxide to blast away surface residue. Here we are blasting away an epoxy off of texture concrete. The crew fixing the crack used way to much epoxy and did a poor job cleaning the excess off.

The company uses dry ice blasting in a number of areas from, aviation to construction to historic restoration, among others.  We are responsible for cleaning all 195 golden anodized aluminum panels that make up the old Valley National Bank Dome found on the ASU campus now.

I believe 4th Avenue to be one of the main attractions in Tucson to see the “hippie” locals and nightlife. Between the smoke shops, bright colors, coffee shops, restaurants and trash cans made from recycled bicycle parts, make 4th a place to see during the day. At night the college bar scene can be lots of fun with live concerts and drink specials. 4th Avenue is also close to downtown Tucson with its historic buildings such as the Fox Theatre so it is a place to be out and about among other people.
